Market baskets from the Bolgatanga region of Ghana are virtually indestructible, comfortable to carry and beautiful, too. This version of round basket is the classic market basket. It has a fixed handle that will carry your favorite craft project, accompany you to the market or out to the garden. The baskets are woven with twisted elephant grass, dyed with colorfast dyes, and have a leather handle. The baskets can be returned to their original shape it by getting them wet, gently reshaping them, and letting them dry. They are woven by a cooperative of weavers in northern Ghana, with whom we deal directly.
The sizes and patterns of these baskets vary. The average basket is approximately 14" in diameter and 9" high. Pick your preferred color when ordering your basket. If you have any special requests (e.g., "BIG", or "no pink", ...) please let us know in the "comments section" of your order.
