Rag Rug Frames and Stands

             We have custom made rag rug frames and stands as well as smaller placemat frames.  These frames are made from your choice of wood, Cherry, Oak and Walnut and you can chose the stain to match the furniture in your home.  These frames are more like a piece of furniture that is functional.   We have the instruction book, warp cording, and fabric packs already cut into 2” strips.  The fabric colors can be custom ordered so that you have a custom rug or pace mat when you are finished.  We can ship the frames, and other supplies to any location.

Frames

   These are pictures illustrating various stages in warping the frame.  This is done with 52 yards of cording ( or fabric, if you choose).  It is strung from the top left to the bottom right in one continuous string.  You leave a loop at the start of the warp and one in the end.  You weave your first row through this loop to anchor the rug.  Otherwise when you take it off the frame, your rug or placemat will unravel.   This is explained in the instruction book.

   You can customize the color of you rug or placemat so that they coordinate with your home’s décor.  My first rug was done in copper like colors in varying shades of peach with some greens added for the patina effect.

Fabric Kits

             We customize our kits to your specifications.  The kits contain enough 100 % cotton fabric pre cut into 2” strips ready for you to get started on your project.  The kits contain 18.3 yards of fabric, enough to do one rug or six placemats.  You tell us the colors you want and we cut it, package it, and shipped it right to you door.  Email your color choice to: thestashstore@bellsouth.net

Warp Cording

             After many trials, we discovered that this cotton cording works better in weaving the rugs and placemats.  You can use the same fabric to warp the frame as you do for the actual weaving, but it does get stretched out and frayed by the time you meet in the center.  If you use the cotton cording, it doesn’t fray and stretch.  It gives you a sturdier rug and it is still completely washable.  Everything in the rug is still 100 % cotton and launders very well
